Passport Size Photo Maker
Add your photo, drag and zoom it into the frame, choose the size and background colour, then download one photo or a ready-to-print sheet with several copies. Everything happens in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded.
The colour only fills empty space around the picture. It does not replace the background inside your photo.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make a passport size photo online for free?
Choose the size (35 x 45 mm is selected), add a photo with a plain light background, drag and zoom it until your head sits in the middle of the frame, pick the background colour and download the photo. For printing, use the print sheet section to put several copies on one sheet of 4 x 6 inch, 5 x 7 inch, A4 or Letter paper.
What size is a passport photo in cm, mm and pixels?
A common size is 35 x 45 mm, which is 3.5 x 4.5 cm or about 1.38 x 1.77 inches, and 413 x 531 pixels at 300 DPI. The United States uses 2 x 2 inches (51 x 51 mm), which is 600 x 600 pixels at 300 DPI. Canada uses 50 x 70 mm, which is 591 x 827 pixels at 300 DPI.
How many passport photos fit on a 4x6 inch sheet?
Eight photos of 35 x 45 mm fit on a 4 x 6 inch sheet (four across and two down, printed as a 6 x 4 inch landscape sheet), and six photos of 2 x 2 inch (two across, three down). The tool works out the best layout for the paper and size you choose.
Does the tool remove or change the background of my photo?
No. It does not remove the background. Use a photo taken in front of a plain, light wall in even light. The background colour you pick only fills empty space around the picture, for example when you zoom out or rotate it.
Will my photo be accepted for a passport or visa?
Passport and visa offices set their own rules for size, background, head position, expression and print quality, and they may reject a photo that does not follow them. This tool crops and sizes your photo and shows an approximate head guide, but it does not check the photo against any official standard. Always read the requirements of the office you are applying to.
How do I keep the photo under 50 KB or 100 KB?
Tick "Keep the file under" in the download section and choose a size such as 50 KB. The tool keeps your exact pixel size and lowers the JPEG quality until the file is just under the limit. Online application forms often ask for a small file, so check what yours allows.
How should I print the sheet?
Print the sheet at 100% or "actual size" and switch off "fit to page" or "shrink to fit". The sheet is saved at 300 DPI, so a 4 x 6 inch sheet prints at exactly 4 x 6 inches. Cut along the thin lines.
Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. The photo is cropped and sized in your browser on your own device, so it is never sent to our servers.
