How to resize a signature

  1. Set the width and height above, in pixels, centimetres, millimetres or inches (the size for this page is already filled in).
  2. Choose how the picture should fit: crop to fill, pad with white, stretch or keep proportions.
  3. Optionally tick Keep the file under and choose a size such as 20, 50 or 100 KB.
  4. Drop your JPG, PNG or WebP picture into the box, press Resize and download the result. The file name ends with the new size in pixels.

Forms ask for different signature sizes, so type the size your form asks for. The values shown here (300 x 80 pixels, 20 KB) are only an example. For a clean result, sign with dark ink on plain white paper, take the photo in good light, crop away the empty margin, then resize it here.

Frequently asked questions

How do I resize a signature to 20 KB?

Add your signature, type the width and height your form asks for, keep "Keep the file under" ticked with 20 KB and press Resize. The tool keeps your pixel size and lowers the JPEG quality until the file is just under 20 KB.

Which size should my signature be?

Use the size written on the form or website you are uploading to. Sizes differ from form to form, and the 300 x 80 pixels shown here is only an example.

Can I set a minimum size such as 10 KB?

No. The tool aims for a file just under your limit and never adds filler data to make a small file bigger. If the result is smaller than a minimum you need, increase the pixel size or the limit.

Why does my signature look blurry or light?

A very small file size forces a low JPEG quality. Raise the limit, make the pixel size smaller or use a darker, sharper original photo of the signature.

How do I resize an image to an exact size?

Add your picture, choose the unit (pixels, cm, mm or inches), type the width and height, pick how the picture should fit (crop to fill, pad with white, stretch or keep proportions) and press Resize. Then download the result.

How do I keep a picture under 50 KB or 100 KB after resizing?

Tick "Keep the file under" and type the size. The tool keeps your exact pixel size and lowers the JPEG quality until the file is just under the limit. If even the lowest quality is too big, it shows the smallest size it reached, and you can use a smaller pixel size or a larger limit.

What is the difference between crop, pad, stretch and keep proportions?

Crop to fill scales the picture until it covers the exact size and cuts off what overflows. Pad with white scales it until it fits inside and fills the rest with white, so nothing is cut off. Stretch forces the exact size and can distort the picture. Keep proportions fits the picture inside your width and height, so one side may end up shorter than you typed.

Does it work with PNG and WebP?

Yes. You can add JPG, PNG and WebP pictures and save the result as JPG, PNG or WebP. With a file size limit, PNG is saved as JPG because PNG files cannot be made smaller by lowering the quality, and transparent areas become white.

Is my picture uploaded to a server?

No. Resizing runs in your browser on your own device, so the picture is never sent to our servers.
