How to split a PDF
- Drop your PDF (up to 10 MB) into the box above, or tap it to choose a file.
- Pick a Split Mode: Select Pages (tap the page numbers), Page Range (type 1-5, 8, 10-12) or Split Each Page (one PDF per page).
- Press the button under the options. Extract Selected Pages and Extract Pages give you one PDF; a button such as "Split into 12 PDFs" (the number is your page count) gives you a ZIP.
- The download starts at once. If you miss it, press Download Again.
The page grid shows page numbers, not small pictures of the pages, so look up which pages you need in your PDF viewer first.
Want to join PDFs instead? Use the PDF merger. To make the result smaller, use the PDF compressor, which turns pages into pictures, so the text can no longer be selected.
Frequently asked questions
How do I extract pages from a PDF?
Drop your PDF (up to 10 MB). In Select Pages, tap the page numbers you want, then press Extract Selected Pages. You get one new PDF called extracted_pages.pdf with only those pages.
How do I split a PDF by page range?
Choose Page Range and type the pages, for example 1-5, 8, 10-12. Separate the parts with commas, semicolons or spaces. "5-" means page 5 to the end and "-5" means pages 1 to 5. A reversed range such as 5-3, a page that is not in the PDF, or anything that is not a number is refused, and the message names the part it could not use.
Can I save every page as its own PDF?
Yes. Choose Split Each Page and press the button. You get pages.zip with one PDF per page, named page_1.pdf, page_2.pdf and so on. For a PDF of 10 pages or more the numbers are padded, like page_01.pdf, so the files sort in page order.
In what order do the extracted pages appear?
Always in the original order, lowest page number first, even if you typed the range in another order. A page you list twice is used once.
Can I cut a PDF into parts of 10 pages each?
There is no automatic "every 10 pages" mode. Use Page Range once for each part, for example 1-10 and then 11-20, and download each result. After each download the tool starts again, so add the PDF again for the next part.
Does splitting change the pages or lower their quality?
No. The pages are copied into the new PDF as they are, so text stays sharp and can still be selected, and links to websites are kept. Nothing is turned into a picture. Fillable form fields and bookmarks are not carried over to the new file.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is split in your browser, on your own device, so it is never sent to our servers.
Why does it say my PDF is password-protected?
A PDF that needs a password to open cannot be split here, so remove the password first. The file must also be a PDF of up to 10 MB. A damaged file shows "Could not read PDF file".
